Identity Vault

For current customers, we have begun a multi-year process of discontinuing maintenance and support services for Ionic Identity Vault. During this process, we will continue to keep Identity Vault up-to-date with support for all latest dependencies.

The Identity Vault package will be sunset effective December 31, 2027. By this time, you should have migrated to an alternative service for Identity Management. Any applications still relying on the @ionic-enterprise/identity-vault package at this time may experience build failures.

Open Source Alternatives

The solutions listed below are not owned, maintained or associated with Ionic. The Ionic Solutions Architecture team has not tested or evaluated these solutions. This list is provided for informational purposes only. Strongly encourage conducting additional research and evaluation to find a solution that will meet your unique business needs.

1. @capgo/capacitor-native-biometric: Provides a simple credential storage mechanism using a username + password to server URL model, secured by device biometrics. Unlike @ionic-enterprise/identity-vault, it doesn’t offer multiple vaults or token management—it’s purely for storing login credentials.
2. @aparajita/capacitor-biometric-auth + @aparajita/capacitor-secure-storage: Together, these plugins allow biometric authentication and secure data storage, functioning similarly to @ionic-enterprise/identity-vault. However, they lack support for multiple distinct vaults, which is a key feature of Identity Vault.
3. fingerprint-aio: Offers a minimal biometric security solution with support for a single secure value (get/set). Unlike @ionic-enterprise/identity-vault, it doesn’t support multiple data stores. Evaluate carefully to ensure it meets your organization’s security requirements.

Self-Support @ionic-enterprise/identity-vault

For teams who would prefer to continue to leverage the @ionic-enterprise/identity-vault package, Ionic will be making these solutions self-supportable in 2026. Customers with active subscriptions will be eligible to receive a non-exclusive perpetual license for Identity Vault.
